Berlin, September 28th, 2026 (The Berlin Spectator) – Drinking, dancing, flirting and enjoying a nice time together while being tortured by loud beats: This is probably what to expect from Berlin’s nightclubs. Ooontz! Ooontz! Ooontz!
Judging from the outside, clubs that restrict entry and place bouncers in front of their doors seem to be more attractive to party folks than clubs everyone can enter. Yes, we have heard those “Berghain” stories. But how come the club mentioned is not “Europe’s Best Nightclub”, according to “TimeOut”?
The publication chose the “Sisyphos” in Berlin’s Lichtenberg borough. It even explained its pick: “Our new ranking crowns an old pet-food factory where the party lasts all weekend and everyone goes completely off the leash”, “TimeOut” writes. “The place runs like a permanent summer festival. There are five indoor stages, but the main draw is the massive outdoor garden where time completely stops making sense.”
Daytime House Set
According to the authors of the ranking, people go to “Sisyphos” on a Friday night and end up staying until Saturday afternoon. “You’ll find yourself brushing your teeth at a communal sink next to a stranger, then walking straight back out to a daytime house set. When it gets too intense, you just drop out, find a quiet corner for a weird conversation or sleep by the artificial pond until you’re ready to go again.”
“TimeOut” found even more reasons for placing this Berlin club on top of its ranking list: The abscence of a “prententious dress code” and a strict no-photos rules. “What happens in ‘Sisyphos’ really does stay in ‘Sisyphos'”, they write.
As it turns out, the top ten best European nightclubs are spread off over the continent. Each of the clubs listed is in a different city and country. What a coincidence. That way, readers in all of the countries covered will check out the ranking. Apart from the “Sisyphos”, Amsterdam’s Shelter and the UNVRS on the Spanish island of Ibiza are listed. So are the “Essaim” in Paris, the Island Club & Restaurant in Athens, London’s MOT, the Kaiku in Helsinki and the A38 Club in Budapest, which is located on a boat in the Danube.
The last two are “Sneaky Pete’s” in Edinburgh and Barcelona’s “Razzmatazz”. But none of them is quite as good as the secretive “Sisyphos”, according to the ranking.
