Berlin, October 30th, 2026 (The Berlin Spectator) – The American Embassy in Berlin issued an alert on Friday. It is warning U.S. citizens in Germany to exercise caution on Saturday, when protests are scheduled to take place throughout the country. German authorities hpe the violence and lootings reported in France will not spill over to the Federal Republic.

The American “demonstration alert” says the protests on Saturday were “not expected to affect air or metro/rail travel, but police may close roads or otherwise disrupt traffic and public transportation near demonstration areas, sometimes on short notice.”

Americans in the Federal Republic were asked to avoid the areas of those protests on October 31st. “Be aware of your surroundings”, the embassy wrote. “If you see something that seems odd or out of place, immediately notify the nearest law enforcement officer and move away from the area.”

United States citizens are supposed to carry their cellphones at all times and to save the local emergency numbers. The German phone number for the police is 110. For the fire brigade and ambulances, the number is 112.

“Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests”, the U.S. Embassy says. “Follow the instructions of authorities and road signs regarding closures and detours. Monitor local media for updates.” Also, Americans in Germany are supposed to “keep a low profile” on Saturday.

This latest warning comes in addition to another one released in May of last year, which is still valid. It deals with the danger posed by terrorism. “Terrorist groups and lone actors remain a constant threat in Germany and Europe, attacking people in public locations with knives, small arms, rudimentary explosive devices, and vehicles”, it says.

According to the embassy, attacks of this kind may occur with little or no warning and target tourist locations, airports, train or bus stations, markets and shopping malls, local government facilities, hotels, clubs, restaurants, places of worship and educational institutions. In this regard as well, U.S. citizens were warned to be cautious and aware of their surroundings.
