Berlin Offers Corona Vaccinations without Appointments at Eleven Locations

In Berlin, residents can get vaccinated against COVID-19 at pop-up vaccination spots, Ikea parking lots and official vaccination centers. They even have the choice between three vaccines.

Berlin, August 6th, 2021 (The Berlin Spectator) — Berliners now have more opportunities to get vaccinated against the dangerous Coronavirus without appointments. This way, those who have not tried to get immunized are supposed to be reached. The city state of Berlin is hoping to increase its vaccination rate substantially.

Three Makeshift Vaccination Spots

Berlin’s Senate Administration of Health is cooperating with the districts ‘Mitte’ and ‘Neukölln’. Three temporary vaccination spots are being set up. At one of them, located in the backyard of the Neukölln health authority’s headquarters at Blaschkoallee 32, all adult Berliners who have official I.D. cards can get immunized today, on Friday, August 6th, between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m..

The next temporary immunization center will be operational at ‘Wissensstadt Berlin’ in Rathausstrasse 15 in Berlin’s ‘Mitte’ district on Saturday, August 7th, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.. At the ‘Zentraler Festplatz’ at Kurt-Schumacher-Damm 207, the third vaccination spot is being set up. This one will be open on Saturday and Sunday, August 7th and 8th, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m..

Shots at Five Immunization Centers

At all of these popup vaccination points, vaccines by Moderna and Johnson & Johnson are being used, meaning people have the choice. The Johnson & Johnson product requires one shot only, while all other vaccines are being administered in two portions.

There is more: Berliners who prefer to go to stationary vaccination centers can do so as well, every day from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. Located at Eichenstrasse 4, the one at Arena Berlin uses the BioNTech/Pfizer product. At the Erika Hess ice rink at Müllerstrasse 185, they use the Modera vaccine. Both of those vaccines are being administered at the vaccination center at former Tegel Airport. The same applies to the immunization center at ‘Messe Berlin‘, Berlin’s fairground, located in hall no. 21 at Hammarskjöldplatz 5. BioNTech vaccinations are available at the Velodrom, which can be found at Paul-Heyse-Straße 26. The sixth vaccination center at Tempelhof field was shut down.

Vaccinations at Swedish Furniture Stores

There is more. Berliners can also get their Corona vaccinations at three Ikea branches:

>> Since Wednesday and until next Wednesday, August 11th, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., shots with Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccines are being offered at Ikea Tempelhof at Sachsendamm 47. This popup vaccination spot will remain closed on Sunday, August 8th.

>> A makeshift immunization center at Ikea Spandau, which is located at Gewerbehof 10, right at the main entrance, offers the same vaccines during the very same opening hours. This one is closed on Sundays as well.

>> At Ikea Lichtenberg, Landsberger Allee 364, both the walk-in and the drive-in vaccination spot are supposed to remain open until the end of August. This one is operational every day from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m..
