Chancellor Angela Merkel and the First Ministers of Germany's federal states will discuss the next steps in the Corona crisis this afternoon. Beforehand, the sixteen provinces and city states wanted to agree on the right approach. They failed.
A majority of Germans want an extension of the Corona rules that have been in place since March 23rd, 2020. On Wednesday, Chancellor Merkel and the First Ministers from Germany's federal states are supposed to take decisions.
The Berlin government is in a catch-22 situation. On the one hand it needs to prolong the restrictions that have been in place for almost three weeks. On the other, it must avoid an "isolation fatigue" in the population.
