Berlin, August 29th, 2026 (The Berlin Spectator) – They are British Rock pioneers. They founded their group 54 years ago. They will be back on the road. They are expected in Germany, among other countries. They are 10cc.
In 1972, Edward Heath was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Queen Elizabeth II was 46 years old. The Doobie Brothers were telling people to “Listen to the Music”, Chicago enjoyed their “Saturday in the Park” and Neil Young had a “Heart of Gold”.
Something happened that year in Stockport, located to the south of Manchester: Graham Gouldman, Eric Stewart, Kevin Godley and Lol Creme founded a band they called 10cc. These four gentlemen were quick. In 1973, their self-titled debut album already included a hit entitled “Rubber Bullets”.
Hymn of the 1970s
Graham Gouldman, a Jewish multi-talent, is the only original member who is still part of 10cc. The band leader is 80 by now. When he was 77, he talked about the difficulties of touring in an interview I did with him for the “Jüdische Allgemeine” weekly: “It’s a means to an end, isn’t it? The easiest part of touring is playing. The traveling is the hard part. I’m not that fond of being away from home.”
He will be back at the airport soon. Transfers, hotel rooms and early lobby calls. His “Another Bloody Greatest Hits Tour” started with two festival appearances in the UK in August. In September, 10cc will be in Gibraltar as well as on five German stages.
Will they be playing hits such as “The Wall Street Shuffle”, “Rubber Bullets” and “Dreadlock Holiday”? You bet. And, yes, they always play their most famous and fascinating tune which became one of the most important hymns of the 1970s: “I’m Not in Love”.
Huge Choir
“I’m Not in Love” is so many things. First of all, it is a stunning composition. Secondly, it was very innovative. Thirdly, the way they recorded it was nothing less than revolutionary. “We simply recorded the voices we wanted to use on several tape tracks, mixed them down to a stereo pair, and transferred them back onto the multitrack”, Graham Gouldman told me in late 2023.
If the most important Pop and Rock tunes of the mid-1970s had to be named, “I’m Not in Love” would definitely need to be at the top of the list. It is an immortal piece of music. This one should have been sent to the aliens on the two Voyager space probes in 1977. It wasn’t. But it is the perfect Pop tune, and it brings people back to that era when they just listen. It’s like time travel.

“The song has something to it”, Gouldman said back then. “There are imperfections in our choral vocals. That aspect makes the song more engaging and more human.” Not too many listeners ever noticed any imperfections even though they listened to “I’m Not in Love” hundreds of times since 1975.
European Tour
Another interesting aspect about 10cc: They didn’t do drugs. Nor did they become alcoholics. “We never overdid it, because we weren’t really that kind of band”, Graham Gouldman told me. “There were three nice Jewish boys. I wouldn’t say we were perfect. God forbid! But generally, we behaved well.”
Even before 10cc, Gouldman was known in the music business since he composed a number of hits for other groups, including “No Milk Today” for Herman’s Hermits, “Bus Stop” for The Hollies and “Heart Full of Soul” for The Yardbirds. But “Another Bloody Greatest Hits”, this year’s tour, is all about 10cc.
Their German gigs will be taking place in Aachen, Worms, Bonn, Aschaffenburg and Baden-Baden from September 23rd to 27th, 2026, respectively. Denmark, Norway, Finland and Sweden are next, before Gouldman and the guys are scheduled to perform on countless British stages.
