Naples, October 10th, 2026 (The Berlin Spectator) – Because of the Festival of Lights that just started and several demonstrations that are taking place this weekend, the Berlin Police Department has requested help from several other federal states as well as from the Federal Police.
As many as 1,400 officers are on duty. One of the reasons is the Festival of Lights during which many Berlin landmarks are lit in fancy colors. That way, they are being turned into art objects. Tens of thousands of Berliners and tourists are expected to walk the city at night, in order to look at those spectacular sights.
For the protection of these crowds, the police are needed all over the eastern city center. This will be their easiest task this weekend.
Immediate Elections
In addition, several protests were announced. One of them is entitled “Projekt M1llion”. This rally, which is supposed to commence at 10 a.m. at Brandenburg Gate, was registered by right-wing youth groups and similar organizations. The participants intend to call for the resignation of the federal government, immediate elections in Germany and more measures against immigration. Due to the nature of this demonstration, violence cannot be ruled out.
At 3 p.m., another demonstration against Israel will be taking place. The organizers registered 3,000 participants. At pro-terror demonstrations with hostility towards the only democracy in the Middle East, which is the only Jewish state in the world as well, hate speech and violence are common. The police will have to protect the city against the participants.
This demonstration is supposed to begin at Brandenburg Gate as well. The protesters will move through the government quarter to Potsdamer Platz. Escorting protests of this kind or those organized by radical right-wingers is a nightmare, but it obviously has to be done.
Smaller Protests
On top of it all, smaller demonstrations that support Israel and condemn terror were announced. In these cases, the participants will not be violent, but they need to be protected against Israel haters and antisemites who take part in the pro-terror rally as well as other haters in the city.
Berlin registers about 6,000 protests per year.
